hybrid golf

I’ve been playing golf for years and am finally trying to upgrade my bag to some hybrids. I’d say I’m an average/slightly above average golfer. I’m just still confused with these hybrids. I’ve heard they’re great, but I can’t figure out which irons/woods of mine to replace. Any help would be great.
Awesome, thanks a ton for the help. Getting started with choosing the first hybrid was the hardest part. Thanks again!

Can somebody explain to me, what's the difference between a hybrid golf club, a rescue, and a fairway club

hybrids usually replace long irons and even fairway woods. a 21 degree hybrid takes place of a 3 iron/7 wood while an 18 degree one takes place of a two iron/ 5 wood. my playing partner uses three hybrids. he has a 3,4,5 to replace a 3 wood, a 5 wood/2 iron and a 3 iron.

Start by replacing your two or three iron. If you like them you can replace your 4 iron too. Go to a shop and demo one. I think you will like them.

Look at head design. Clubs like the Adams Boxer A3 or Tech A4 are to get the club in the air, with max forgiveness. The Idea Pro Gold, though, is a more workable club. Some, like the Taylormade Rescue Burner look and act more like a fairway wood, thanks to their large footprint. The Rescue TP, though, is more iron-like.

Figure out what you need the club to do, the rest is a breeze.

    King cobra Baffler.
its the most forgiving and easy to hit hybrid out there.
titleist and talormade burners are good too

Try the Bobby Jones series from Jessie Ortiz, they are great from any lie, bunkers or rough. I have 2 of them and I can make just about any shot I want with them because of their unique design. I made a shot last night from 160 yrds out from a fairway bunker and landed it 4 ft. from the hole. They are great clubs except unlike most hybrids they do have a lower face on them so you must make a good strike on the ball or you can mar the top of the club.

just remember to forget the number look at the lofts when replacing irons and woods

i now carry them to replace all my woods except the driver and all the irons up to the 6 iron

  • Jordan H:

go with the titlest hybrids because the face is alot flatter than all the other hybrids so you will be able to control a draw or a fade
